Should I be the one to ask my Dr. for a different Diabetes medicine like Byetta

I have Type II Diabetes.  I take Glucophage and Actos and my fasting numbers are above 150.  Should I be the one to ask my Dr. for a different medication  like Byetta or Insulin or should I wait for him to suggest it.  I feel like he thinks he's punishing me by giving having me take something else.

Dear Brenda,

Diabetes is a condition that you have to manage. Not your doctor, who basically is there just for prescriptions and lab tests. Byetta will help you lose weight. Actos will make you gain weight, so you might ask your doctor to switch them. Glucophage is weight-neutral. Please see my new book, "Losing Weight with your Diabetes Medication."
