Q: Can I allow my 9 year old, type 1 diabetic son to use Vick's vapor rub without it hurting him or affecting his sugar levels?

Hi Miriam,
Yes you can use Vicks, there should be no effect on the diabetes.  If he has a skin issue, as a result of the Vicks, that is a separate issue, so call the doc.  
If the cold is pretty bad, please be sure check in with his doctor! His blood sugars will probably be high as a result of the cold (very common), but you want to adjust insulin needs if this is the case and the doctor may make other recommendations such as meds either prescription or over the counter to help.
