Q: Is it possible to run out of insulin in your body?

I had an epiphany one day. I take 25 units of insulin per day. Since my pancreas now produces very little insulin can my 25 units sustain me 24 hrs no matter what I eat? For example if I eat 2500 calories per day vs 5000 calories will my latter number make me run out of insulin? If so, what are the limits?
