You can call the National Diabetes Association at 1-800-diabetes and they can send you information about what to eat and how much.

With all due respect to the Diabetes Association, most dieticians will tell you to eat healthy whole grains and a great percentage of  carbohydrates.

The more carbohydrates  you eat,  the more insulin or pills you will need.

In my opinion, an   excellent diet for anyone who is diabetic is a Paleo Diet .  You can do a Google query an find a lot of information on the web.  With a limited amount of carbohydrate, a good amount of protein , according to your weight and the balance fat  you will be well on your way to eating right.

Good luck!
