Q: Scar tissue from insulin pump sites

I have been on the insulin pump for close to 15 years now. Cost is high for infusion set so I have left them in for a longer time than what is recomended. I have found now that sites are getting harder to find that work well. I was told it was scare tissue from leaving the infusion set in too long. Is there any way to reverse or to make better the uptake in these areas?

Scott-

Hello! You should change your infusion set every 2-3 days so you won't develop scar tissue. You also want to make sure you rotate your sites. I go use my stomach, legs and back.

Scar tissue should go away over time or you could get ultrasound assisted liposuction. Because these fatty deposits are very tough the ultrasound helps loosen the tissue.
