Saturday, August 08, 2009 Frustrated asks

Q: I was taken off Avandia a year ago. Can I now take Actos?

I had gained weight on Avandia but it kept my sugar levels under 100.  March 2008 I was admitted to the hospital with congestive heart failure and taken off Avandia.  I can't take other diabetes meds because I had kidney cancer in 2000 and had my left kidney removed.  My creatinine level has been as high as 1.8 but currently is 1.5.  Can I take Actos?  My sugar levels have been very high since I stopped Avandia.  So I am obviously frustrated.  If I can't take Actos is there another medication I can take?  Thank you.
