Q: I am an insulin diabetic.

I am an insulin diabetic. I was diagnosed more than 10 years ago. I take 35 units of insuline twice a day and 1000 mg of Metaphormine twice daily. I have recently begun an excercise program to try to become healthier, but after 11 weeks, I have lost less than a pound or two. While I know insulin contributes to weight gain, what can I do to counter this particular side effect or is there anything I can do? My second question is, why is my blood sugar usually 40-50 points higher when I wake up in the morning than when I go to bed, especially since I eat NOTHING between the two readings? Thank you so much for your response.
