weight loss- how to make it happen-how many calories should I consume?

62y/o white male 6'1'' 305lbs bmi 40.2. MD says FBS; chol: thy funct are normal. BP is controlled(<135/80)w/ ARB; rennin inhib; alpha-1 blocker. also take 1500mg omega-1;

multi vit; naproxen 880mg for arthritis. I'm also 16 months post total hip replacement. life style- sedimentary. I must get of this 300lb mark ASAP. At this point I have not developed T-2 DM but it cant be that far off. can you help with any diet recommendations. Sometimes I think I dont consume that many calories (nor does my wife) but the weight either stays as is or lately increases. Where do I start as far as calorie consumption. My BMR is 2471. I think a diebetic diet is the safest way to go. Please help

I think about 1200 min. a day no more than 1500. (only an opinion, this is what i was ttol)

Well. I went to a health place last summer. they way i was told i was going to lose weight was 4 onz. of food -pasta,meat,fish,rice etc. (I use 1/2 c. to measure).For example: you can eat more vegies, salads,(no dressing) only 1 tsp of oil and lemon or vinegar,  cellery, carrots about 10 pieces=50cal. {peel cut in 3 1/2 in. pieces lethwise, 'french fried cut} as snaks in between meals. 1/2 tomatoe. 1/2 banana (med.) 1 samll apple, 1/2 med potatoe etc. This is just an example. I hope it elps

AHHH i forgot to mention, I am a woman 5'2. If you are a tall man you probably need more cals than I. but more and less you have an idea ... until someone with knowledge can help you. Remember, I AM NOT AN EXPERT.
