Bren:  I am jst a 68 yr old man with type II. Been working on diet understaning lung and heart problems which limit my exercize. I got off Insulin shots by eating in moderation and limiting my carb intake bunches. minor whole wheat bread(1 slice daily) vey low sugar (1gram or less per serving three times a day) very very low carb intake ( no poatoes lots of beans no Peas) and high fiber. Green salads low fat dressings(ranch or blue cheese) Idon't shoot up any more. My guess is your Insulin dosage is too high and not frequent enough. Medical people try too hard to avoid discomfort!! caution:  You can get yourself in serious trouble by playing around with self cures. Find yourself a Modern doctor who is up on carbohydrates and low intake diets, not just carb counting, understand the glysemic index,  watches fat intake as a factor. I eat four to five times a day (& night) since I take breathing treaments every four-five hours. P.S. I even lost 20 lbs.
