Is it normal for your blood sugar levels to go up while your body is healing from a broken rib?

I was involved in a bicycle accident. I was struck by a van and had a broken rib, bruised lung, and partially collapsed lung. Since the accident my blood sugar levels have gone up dramatically. I was wondering if the increase in levels is due to my body going through the healing...
