Hi!  I have insulin resistance and take metformin as well.  I have been trying this for a couple of weeks and it is working so far.     First any strenuous/high intensity exercise will actually raise your bs.   Don't go more than 5 hours without eating something.  When you do this your liver releases glycogen which triggers insulin release and causes high bs.   Eat a healthy snack right before bed... I like yogurt or a teaspoon of peanut butter.  I have noticed better weight loss with the yogurt.  (I get dannon all natural blueberry) I also read that yogurt before bed is good too because the enzymes in it prevent your body from using your muscles for energy during that fasting time.   Eat soon after waking, even if it is just a little something before you can get breakfast.   I have been doing a diet similar to this and doing easy yoga poses and light strength training and have noticed a few pounds difference in just a short time.... I have tried everything over the last 5 years to lose instead of gain and my weight stayed the same or would creep up little by little.     Here's a sample of what I eat a day:   I have my one 12oz bottle of coke a day  :)   breakfast - 1 piece of texas toast with a thin layer of peanut butter or one egg and one piece of no nitrate microwave bacon - eckrich i think - blue label and one piece of toast.   at work about every 2-4 hours as needed - instant strawberries and cream oatmeal - wedge of laughing cow light swiss cheese with whole wheat sundried tomato triscuits - little can v8 - couple slices of no nitrate bacon or cheddar cheese or yogurt, etc   dinner - natural hormel chunk chicken in can flavored different ways with a veggie or two or burritos or chili, etc. or most often a whole wheat arnold dutch smooth sandwich with hormel no nitrate/nitrite sandwich meat - deli deluxe real cheese slice - olive oil kraft mayo with handful cheddar sunchips   night snack - yogurt or strawberry milk   water all day and some green tea/black tea   Hope this helps!  If you need anything please don't hesitate.  :)  Heather   heatherannechaney@yahoo.com
