Hello Dietra,

Online sites are great for gathering the information you need to ask all the right questions. However nothing can take the place of your doctor's solid medical advice.

I haven't seen anything online here that would suggest that diabetic children are more prone to being allergic to common bug bites, but it is possible since diabetes is an endocrine system condition that it might be related to the way the body reacts to the venom of a bug bite or bee sting too. It could also be possible that your 3 year old is just alergic to bug bites. Ants can be nasty little buggers!

This would be a good question for your child's pediatrician. The doctor might also suggest keeping some benedryl around to counter act the bug bites when they occur. Here is a good section to check out for other soothing helping tips in dealing with bites and stings when they happen.

Take care and stay in touch! Let us know how you and your child are doing!
