Hi simran,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, diabetes is a life-long process. Once you've been diagnosed, you will be diabetic for the rest of your life. If you've been taking medications and they're no longer working to keep your sugars controlled, the next step is insulin. Usually, once you cross over to insulin, you'll be using it for the rest of your life. However, if you start taking insulin and your diabetes becomes very well controlled, you may be able to switch back to taking oral medications. If you are completely opposed to taking insulin at all, you can make changes that will improve your health and hopefully prevent the need for insulin. A well-controlled diet and exercise can do a world of good in helping to control your sugars, also preventing complications down the road. If you're interesting in trying that, you can follow these links to read more about diet and exercise in the treatment of diabetes. You should definitely speak to your doctor and/or a nutritionist about what you would have to do to avoid starting insulin.
Best of luck,
Casey
