I have heard, that there is no such thing as pre-diabeties either you are diabetic or your not.

Dear Phyllis,

 

What you are thinking of is the now-discredited term "borderline diabetes." You do indeed have diabetes or don't have it. But when you have insulin resistance and your beta cells of the pancreas are not yet damaged, you do have the pre-diabetic condition. That's certainly a better time to treat it, rather than waiting until you have full-blow (or "frank") diabetes.
