Was anyone else put on teh carb exchange diet? I am having trouble understanding it. The sad things is I now what I am supposed to eat and try to eat healthy but often over eat and I am sedentary more then I would like to be, can I watch what I eat and watch my calories and eat a balanced diet without living the carb exchange to a T? I was put on a 1500 calorie diet to help me loose weight. I am looking into seeing a dietician as well. Thanks

Good Morning Janice!  Ann here!

So you're using a carb exchange?  Ok, they are not my fav either, but one thing that is very important to learn, for good diabetes management, is carbs!  Did they give you a Calorie King?  That will helpful for when you step out for lunch or dinner or even a coffee break! Carb exchanges will become easier to understand and part of it is practice! Feel free to ask specific questions and I'll see if I can answer for you, or direct you to resources that might help.  Here's one resource to sift through.

Also check out David Mendosa's shareposts on this site.  He is amazing wealth of information on type 2 and food choices.  Another stop on this site would be foodfit.com Foodfit has a newsletter that is sent out once a week with recipes and below the recipes are your breakdown of nutritional info.

As much as you maybe sedentary, a walk for 30 minutes a day will help tremendously to boost your metabolism and give you happy vibes!  Somehow we have been trained to believe that we don't like exercise or that it takes too much, etc.  But in fact our physical design is all about movement.  So after you finish a great dinner appropriate to your diet requirements take a stroll and enjoy the evening air!

I think you about to become an expert on healthy living!
