Hi Susan, It's hard for me to answer this, because there are too many things I don't know about you.  However if walking is too hard, my impulse is to say water.  You should probably try to be in a pool to take the pressure of all the joints of your body.  Water is tremendously healing for joints of all kinds!  Spinal, shoulder, knees, ankles, etc.  Water allows the muscles to get the workout they need and the joints to be impact free.   However, if you are confined to home, this idea may pose a problem!  You could try some pilates core strengthening, there are some videos and youtube selections to research.  You want to look at beginners core work.  I looked at a couple that said "Pilates toning and strengthening" and they were nothing to do with Pilates! If you look around, see if you can find videos that are created by someone holding a Polestar certification or Kane School of Integration, or the original school started by Joseph Pilates, New York Pilates Studio.  These are very good rehab format certifications.
