HAVE YOU HEARD OF A CORRELATION BETWEEN SPINACH AND GOUT?
Spinach does have purines, and purines can lead to uric acid deposits = gout. The old-school treatment for gout was low purine diet. However, medicines (allopurinol and colcichine) were developed that work much more potently than diet control. So my advice is: if you love spinach, don't give it up. However, if you are on medicine, but your symptoms have not improved, than spinach as well as other even higher purine foods should start to be eliminated, at least until symptoms are controlled. Good luck and remember- if popeye had gout, that would explain the swollen forearms and calfs :)
