Q: CAN AMARYL AFFECT A PATIENT WHO DOES NOT HAVE DIABETES BUT BY ERROR WAS DIAGNOSED WITH DIABETES?

I WAS BY ERROR DIAGNOSED WITH DIABETES AND PRESCRIBED AMARYL. I SOUGHT A SECOND OPINION OF ANOTHER DOCTOR WHO TOLD ME BASED ON LAB TEST I DID NOT HAVE DIABETES AND COULD HAVE DIED OR HAD A BRAIN SEIZURE IF I WOULD HAVE TAKEN AMARYL

I think you need to look at the reasons why the first doctor recommended it.  Did he follow the proper protocol for diagnosis.  The second doctor sounds like he is giving you the side effects for hypoglycemia, but I'm unclear since this is second hand info.

If you looking for fault with the initial diagnosis, you need to know what tests were taken to qualify you for diabetes diagnosis.  Glucose tolerance test, was it just a blood sugar test, what was the number and did that qualify enough for the doctor to diagnose you with type 2 diabetes.

Something must have registered as high blood sugar for the doc to prescribe. Check out NIH for type 2 info: http://diabetes.niddk.nih.gov/dm/pubs/diagnosis/
