Why is the FDA violating regulation by allowing insulin to be called Humulin which is misleading ?

Humulin insulin is not human insulin as the name implies. The FDA has to approve a product's name and it goes against the FDA's regulation to allow " fanciful " names or false and/ or misleading claims embedded in the name. In " INSULIN-A VOICE FOR CHOICE" they state," An example of an intervention by the FDA was its ruling that an oral contraceptive marketed as "Marvelon" could not carry this name in the United States since it suggested that the drug was " Marvelous ". Similarly, " Humulin " suggests that the product is human insulin, a false claim." I have nothing against the FDA, but I do think there are adverse affects and sometimes deadly with the synthetic Humulin DNA insulin. Why are physicians listening more to the drug companies sales representatives, than they are to their patients? Why are some patients being blamed for poor diabetes control, when they are given the wrong tool ( DNA insulin ) to work with? My son is back on the natural pork insulin and back in control of his diabetes, but he had to do it on his own and without the help of a doctor. His doctor was too busy parroting the self-serving drug companies. If you think I'm angry, then you're right, because synthetic DNA insulin was slowly killing my son. This site has been invaluable.

It's all about money and greed.  I'm sure it is easier and cheaper to manufacture the DNA stuff even though the natural insullin (pork and beef) works much better for most diabetics.  I believe the FDA is scared of the big drug companies.  In the beginning I even thought the DNA stuff was going to be better (wishful thinking).  It had to be because the drug companies said it would and so did the doctors.  When you read the word Humulin it sounds like human and this insulin is not human insulin.  It hits really hard and has no duration.  The natural insulin doesn't hit as hard and has long duration.  The natural insulin isn't perfect but it does work better.  I believe Eli Lilly knows they messed up and will never admit it.  Eli needs to make the natural insulin or step back and let a country like Europe make it here.  It is expensive to import it from Canada but is worth it.  We (people with diabetes) should have a choice and not have it made for us.  Our body belongs to us and not the drug companies.
