In my opinion definitely not.
One of the first Guidelines of the Macrobiotic Diet is to eat
whole grains which typically make up 50 to 60% of each meal. Grains and any other carbohydrates have to be covered by insulin. Even onions can raise your blood sugar.
We must control the amount insulin we take thorough our diet. The more carbohydrates we eat the more insulin we need.
Diet is what makes insulin levels go haywire in the first place,
In my opinion the best diet for type 1 diabetics (and my husbands has had type 1 for over 40 years) is the Paleo or Primal Diet. A very restricted amount of carbohydrates, and a moderate amount of protein, and the balance fat.
You can find out how much protein you need by doing a queery "How Much Protein Do I Need?"
Protein Power by Drs. Eades and the Diabetic Solution by Richard K. Bernstein have taught us more than any dietician has ever done.
