Q: does reglan cause parkinson

the reason is i have been takin reglan for 1 year, for gastroparsis my doctor said it will cause me to have parkinson if taken for long periods of time, this is a drug that i notice help me alot. my doctor took me off reglan about 3 week ago and i have been really sick since that time and i think i should be put back on reglan i am not a diabetic

Reglan can cause tardive dyskinesia, but it is rare.  The risk/benefit is up to you.  What about other motility agents?  There is a drug used in Europe, domperidone, that your GI doc may be able to get.  Or you could try botox or a pacer.  Or only using reglan for flareups.  Again, the long term use may be risky, so if any family history of parkinsons, or if you develop any symptoms/tremors, I would steer clear.
