Q: i have arthritis in my spine that affects the nerves to other parts, what can i take for it?

I found out through a MRI that i have arthritis in my openings of the spine, that affects the nerves that run down my back, hips, legs and feet, and that is where i am getting pain, in all those sections.  it affects mainly the left side right now, but right hip is in pain but less painfull then the left. is their any kind of medication, over the counter, or whatever i can take for it?  they are saying i may need corizone shots in the back for it.  i also am a diabetic type 2, on meds.
