uncrueable gangrene
Doctor says they can do nothing to help my dad. He has gangrene and not a canidate for surgery. he is 87 years old. Doctor says his lifespan is 3 less than 3 months. Is it painful? What should I expect?
Hi Melinda,
I am sorry that your father seems to be in such dire straits. While online medical sites like Health Central are great for getting information that will help you ask all the right questions, it can not take the place of your doctor's sound medical advice.
Without more information it is difficult to know which way to point you. I don't know why your father is not a candidate for surgery, whether his age, medical condition or underlying condition is the reason. The best thing you can do for him now is to be with him, make sure he is being kept comfortable and be his advocate with the doctors. Go over all options and don't be afraid to ask for a second opinion if you think it will help.
Take care and stay in touch. Let us know how you and your dad are doing.
