In her book Type 2 Diabetes, Gretchen Becker makes at least two references to strips which test for glucose in food. They appear to work something like litmus papers. My pharmacist had no idea what they could be

I hope this is what you are looking for....Tes-Tape they are used to test sugar in drinks and sugar in urine, I am not sure about the food part. You should be able to look for Tes-tape at the local pharmacy by diabetic testing supplies.
