Q: Is it normal to still have very high ketones after beings flushed with fluids in the emergency room?

My child was ill and taken to the emergency room because his ketones were black on his ketosticks. They flushed his system with fluids and sent him home because all his bloodwork came back ok. His keytones are still black. Is it normal to be this way even after an emergency room visit. It's been 2 days and they are still very very high?

Denise-

I would honestly say call your sons physician ASAP, drink water and Call your son's physician.  I don't think that's normal and you don't want to risk your son having a DKA.
