Now i want to gain all my weight back and it seems kinda hard cuz i cant eat anything with fat, sugar, carb-hydrates.

Doctor gave me insulin and said i would gain weight back but i have a really high metabolizime..

I'm Ginger, I write for HealthCentral's other diabetes site. I'm also a personal trainer and cognitive health coach.  I've lived with Type 1 and celiac for 10+ years and I'm a record-setting powerlifter, so nutrition is big to me!

DON'T WORRY!

You'll gain back the 20 pounds you lost while your body was becoming diabetic because now you're getting the insulin you need again.

You lost the 20lbs because your body didn't have insulin to absorb the food you eat and transport it throughout your body for fuel. So instead, your body burned up your body fat really really quickly.

Now that you ahve insulin in your blood stream again, the insulin will help give you the energy you need from your food and it will also store fat on your body. Whether or not we're diabetic, insulin stores fat on our body if we are getting more than we need. A non-diabetic "Gets more than they need" by eating too much. Same goes for a diabetic. Eat balanced diet, try to keep your blood sugars as balanced as you can (this is a learning process so be patient! You'll learn more and more over the next ten years about how YOUR body works!).

You will gain your weight back. Give it time and be patient as you learn about your disease.
