Q: Effective alternative to pricking a finger for blood sugar analysis?

Appreciate your expertise and feedback!

I am a diabetic and I am looking for an effective alternative method other than pricking my finger for blood acces and analysis.  My fingertips are a pin cushion and HURT!

I am surprised no one answered you.  There is a super fine short needle for pricking fingers called the Tiny Boy.  It is available on Amazon.com.  Yes you still have to stick you finger but it is really so much less damaging.  The other thing you could try is to note the angle/ direction of the lance.  Make it go in the same direction as the whorls on your finger tip.  Like in the little vally.  It heals much faster if it is not cutting across the grain of the finger.

 

Hope this helps.  I did read here reciently that changes to blood sugar are reflected as much as 20 minutes after the blood sample in the fingers.
