Hello! I am using the Omnipod insulin delievery system. I love it! I have a pod failure everyonce in a while. The freedom is great, I can move it just about anywhere and I can shower with it. I have never used a traditional pump. I know a lot of my buddies who use traditional pumps, they love them. You can call Insulet to see if they can send you a sample POD, try it out and go from there. You should be able to go to your Endocrinologist office to see if they can give you a dummy pump (traditional) to see how you like it. Wearing a pump/pod can be frustrating either way. They are very expensive. Find a pump you like, see if your insurance company will cover it and the supplies...GO FOR IT! You have to find out what is best for you. The Omnipod is what works best for me. If you have anymore questions let me know.

Hi Trish
I began using a pump last October. When my Educator brought out all of the pumps, I was about ready to say forget it. How do you make a choice? I am glad that I didn't say forget it. We went over each one and I asked a ton of questions. In a way, I was lucky in that I looked a pumps on-line before discussing the move to a pump with my educator.
I am now using a One Touch Ping. I liked the color screen on the pump which made it much easier to read than some of the others. I also like the monitor as it is also a remote control for the pump. I do my progaming and a. DMINISTER INSULIN USING THE MONITOR/REMOTE. There is software that you load into your computer and it keeps track of all of the statistics. I also built a food data base which I can download to the monitor.
When I test, I enter the food that I am going to eat from the data base on the monitor and it calculates my carbs and stuff, then tells me how much insulin to administer. I do almost everything with the monitor and then it shares with the pump.
Sorry, I am getting long winded. My bottom line is that I love my Ping!
