Q: Hello, please could somebody tell me what to do if you get Ketones showing on your monitor. At the moment my reading is 21 Ketones Thankyou Christine Smith.

ketones, or DKA can be a reflection of blood sugar that has been too high for a prolonged period of time.  Often when you have the flu a person will see ketones as well.  Here's a blog by our pediatric diabetologist, Dr. Cogan, but it is a great explanation of DKA and what steps need to be taken whether you are a child or adult:
