I know that there is test that shows if you your body is resisting insulin or not, how do you know if you were tested for this?

Test #1- glucose clamp technique- this is expensive and used in research, so you weren't

 

Test #2- HOMA (homeostasis model assessment) of insulin sensitivity- uses your fasting glucose and insulin concentration- I doubt you had this test, unless your doctor is either excellent or a nerd

 

Test #3- ghetto test- well, if you eat a meal, and your sugar remains too high, then you're insulin resistant- this presumes you are not type I- So if your fasting is ok, but high after meals, you have IR.

 

Keep in mind that IR usually comes with weight gain, especially @ the belly; and it's also genetic- so any family history or beer belly, weight loss can help improve insulin resistance.  Good luck- this post hopes you're not humor resistant :)
