Q: Is my body making any insulin?

I am a type 2 diabetic and was told to take a three day course of - test my bs before meals 3 times a day and according to a chart give myself a shot of novolog insulin before eating if needed. During the three days I registered a bs of 131 once before a late breakfast, 135 the next day before a late breakfast, and on the third day 140 once before a late lunch. I took the charted shot of 4 units of insulin just before eating on those three occasions. The other 2 meals on these three days my bs test was below 129 but above 70 and per the chart no insulin was taken. I was also taking my regular dosages of metformin (500Mg - 2 in morning and 2 just before eveing meal each day) during this 3 day test. According to the Nurse at my doctor's office this is supposed to tell them whether I am making any insulin. So my question is, is my body making any insulin?
