I have never had coverage problems with my GCM insurance covers only certain test strips. I have an AccuCheck GMC that uses a drum which I love, but I had to get a different GMC, a One Touch, so my insurance would cover my strips.

Hello! I am sorry to say this but it's all about contracting. If your insurance is only contracted with One Touch then you would have to use them. Insurance companies don't think about the style and make of the meter, to them all meters do the same, as long as you can check your blood sugar level it's good; drum or no drum doesn't matter. You might want to call your insurance company to see if they are contracted with Bayer. Bayer makes a meter called Breeze 2, a disk that holds 10 strips and no coding.
Good Luck

Strips are more costly, often $1-$2 per strip. Insurance companies must have appropriate documentation from you MD to cover the cost & this depends on how well your MD describes your need. You might want to contact the ins. company to fully understand their rquirements. Meters are esentially - no cost.....
