Splenda is a sweetner made from sugar and is a sugar but the molecular structure of the product was changed when they used certain processing resulting a product that the body does not recognize as sugar but in reality is a sugar but has no calories. The one good point of splenda is it is not a carsinagin like Equal or Saccrahin, aspertime used in Equal is not in my opinion safe and it would take great great quanities of saccrahin to create a cancer in a human being even though it had created cancer in animals during experimenting test.
