Q: When wearing an insulin pump can you disconnect it to take a shower?

when you get an insulin pump and you want to take a shower after an evening run,can you take the insulin pump off, and put it back on?

Yes you can.  You are on Humalog I would think and Humalog works for 2-3 hours.  You are just not getting your basal dose while your unhooked but you still have insulin in your system so your safe.  You may need a little extra bolus later when you check your sugar.  My son unhookes for 2 hours when he goes swimming.  I'll pull him out of the pool, test him, hook him up, bolus and unhook him again.  It's proboly not the best thing to do but a water slide is tough with a pump.  Hope this helps, I'm just a mom with 2 diabetic kids and years of personal experience.
