Q: Help for son with high blood glucose but no diabetes diagnosis

Son was also born with hydronephrosis of kidney.  So far no problems from it besides incontinence.  We are followed regularly by a urologist.  Stomach aches began almost a year ago. He all of a sudden growls and demands food NOW!! and cannot wait.  He has been tested for hypoglycemia and diabetes (oral glucose tolerance done) both test came back normal - as did an upper/lower GI, all tests for parasites, bacteria and celiac disease.  We have been referred to endocrinology.  They did a preliminary blood work - all of it came back normal.  His blood glucose is always over 100 in the morning when first waking.  It has been as high at 184 (which was 4 hrs after eating a piece of birthday cake - we did not have a meter with us and it was 4 hrs later when we got home, so no telling how high it got up to).  He has gotten to where he can tell when his blood sugar is too high and brings me a meter to test him and he is always right.  When stomach aches happen it is always high.  Has anyone ever had this problem or have any suggestions?  With his existing kidney problems we need to find a diagnosis quick.
