I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND, AND MY DOCTOR DOESN'T SEEM TO THINK ITS IMPORTANT, BUT, MY LOGICAL MIND TELLS ME THERE HAS TO BE A REASON. i HAVE BEEN TAKING METFORMAN NOW FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS, AND HAVE KEPT MY TYPE UNDER CONTROL UNTIL RECENTLY, WHEN IT BECAME MUCH LOWER THAN USUAL. WHEN IT WAS 74 I DID HAVE DIZZY FEELINGS. I ATE SOMETHING AND IT WAS BACK TO 101 IN TWO HRS AND i FELT BETTER.

Wilma-

Hello! I am no Dr but if you are experiencing low numbers all the time you need to talk to your Physician. He or she will be the only person who can tell you what your next step would be. I use to experience lows when I first started using insulin. My Endo made adjustments to my insulin and now I am fine. You should carry glucose tablets or something to help bring your BG's up if it drops to low. Follow your first mind, if you don't think something is right make an appointment and talk to your physician face to face. Hopefully you will get an answer.

Good Luck

Your doctor is likely right- it's probably not important, even though you feel like crap in the 70s.  Every diabetic is different- some will not even bat an eyelash in the 50s, while others swear they're at death's door in the low 80s.

What I would suggest- 1- I would make sure your liver is healthy- a simple LFT blood test can show this

2- Have you lost weight?  This can lower your sugar, so you may need some snacks.

3- What time of day?  If fasting, you may need a bedtime snack

4- Maybe Hormonal?  Again, if morning sugar is low, I would wake up and check sugar in the middle of the night- this can check for hormonal release/sugar swings during sleep.  Growth and Stress hormones in general cause sugar swings.

5- Make sure you don't have a fever, even a low grade

6- How much metformin?- if your A1C is < 6.5, maybe you can wean the dose.

good luck, and remember- the reason your doc isn't worried is you are likely doing too well- many diabetics have the problem of 274 rather than 74
