Andrew-   Hi! Alcohol can cause hypoglycemia in Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.  You have to watch the amount you drink because you are putting yourself at risk for a Diabetic Ketoacidosis. If you are type 2 and drinking alcohol with metformin you are taking a risk of developing lactic acidosis.  Frankl said it best- If you have liver problems you shouldn't drink. If you decide to drink make sure you test your blood sugar often and make sure your not alone.   Cherise Community Moderator
