make sure your blood sugar is not running high- sugar can 'spill over' into the urine if too high- in fact, that is what diabetes mellitus means- diabetes is greek for 'lots of urine' and mellitus is 'sweet'- so the old-school diagnostic was tasting the urine to see if it was sweet (legal rejoinder- don't try this at home, or, pretend it's expired budweiser)
