is novolog better than humalog for pumpers?

Hello! Honestly, I would say it has to do with what reacts to the best. I have been using humalog and it works great for me, may not for you. I would ask your Doctor and see what he says about the 2. What insulin are you currently using and are you having issues with the insulin? the only reason I asked is, if you aren't having any problems you may want to stick with what you are using. Don't fix it if it isn't broke.

i'm not having problems with humalog but was told novolog is better with pumps because it doesn't crystalize. my control isn't so great to begin with, so i don't know if this is affecting things. i was also told that novolog is a little faster.

Yes, I believe it is. I have been a pumper for over 3 years.  The Humalog was always crustallizing in the pump tubing and required pump set changes almost every other day.

When I was changed to novolog insulin, I no longer had that problem.

I dont take insulin so i dont know

I used humalog as an injection but never is the pump. I have used only Novolog in our pumps. They say( my doctor) you can use others but he like us to use this Novolog. So is it better, the only thing I can say is that I feel better on Novolog than I did for Humolog. I hope that answers you question.

I've been a pumper for a few years now. My doctor said you only want to use a fast acting insulin in a pump (novolog). Humalog is a slow acting insulin.

I'm 15 years old, diabetic for 11 years, pumper for two years.

When it comes to pumps, novolog is definitely the better choice due to the fact that the Humalog molecule is larger than the Novolog molecule. With a larger molecule comes build up and damaged tubing (Which is a terrible thing to happen when you're sleeping, or have nothing to fix it with.)

Pick Novolog.
