I was recently diagnosis as pre-diabetic and glucose intolerant.  I was put on glugophage which has helped tremendously.  However, I am confused about which type of diet I need to follow.  My MD told me to eat pasta, bread or rice.  Would this fall under a gluten-free diet or is this more like the glycemic index diet?  Are glucose intolerant and insulin resistant the same?  I would appreciate any answers as this is all new to me and foreign teritory.

Hi, This sounds like a reduced carbohydrate diet to me. Which in my opinion is quite effective in helping to manage blood glucose, it is serving me well.  If you want some low carb recipes, George Stella http://www.stellastyle.com/ does quite a few good recipes.
