Q: Hypoglycemia into diabetes?

I have had severe low blood sugar for many years.  (26 on 5 hour glucose tolerance testing)  I have had no other health problems, and do not drink alchohol and am not overweight.  A couple of years back I found that I had high triglycerides, high blood pressure, high cholesterol.  I recently had a bout that they thought might be a touch of pancreatitis, but we really don't know anything other than the fact that I was in so much pain and my lipase was out of whack.  Just now they are telling me that I my blood sugar is high.  I have always watched my diet because of my low blood sugar, so I don't eat fast foods, sugars, don't drink, etc.  I'm wondering if the hypoglycemia has turned into diabetes - did my pancreas wear out from producing so much insulin?  When I was pregnant my son was 9 1/2 pounds and my sister had diabetes.

Jshu - I've had severe hypoglycemia from about 5 years old. Unfortunatly, for me, it has turned into type 2 diabetes. The best advice I can give you is to have a glucose tolerance test done as soon as possible. This will sort out everything.

thx for listening,
