Q: Can anyone stop BOILS from happening?

Boils anyone? At least twice a year I end up with boils, normally at a surgeons to have lanced. The last one was lanced, cut out and lanced again, the entire time for this to heal due to all of the cutting was 2.5 months. Yes I said months. I am now leary of going to the doctors this time because of that experience and yet I know I need too. I have been checked to confirm I am not a carrier of MRSA which could cause these at this frequency. The only answers I am now receiving is that it is because of my diabetes. I am so tired of my diabetes being blamed for things when my doctors don't know. They say I need to get to them sooner to to stop their growth., how ever  the current one looked like a little pipple last nightand by this morning was 3 inches in diameter. So everytime I get a pimple somewhere other than my face I am to run to the doctors...I can't take these anymore....Please HELP!!! I am a Type 1 Diabetic, and my thighs front, back, inner and outer are covered with scars from all of these over the past 6 years.

Hi Abigail, I have the same problem!  I'm a type 2 and have had too many to count, scars everywhere.  Unfortunately, I know of no way to prevent them...have been asking DRs. for years.  But, there is a way to make them burst and thereby stop the pain they cause.

About 23 years ago my ob/gyn told me to take vitamin E for these horrible boils/abcesses.  And I totally understand when you say they pop up over night!  When I feel the first inkling of one on it's way, I start taking about 1600 iu's a day of vitamin E...usually by the third day it pops.  After it pops, I squeeze out as much as I can stand...then cleanse the area really good and apply antibiotic ointment and cover the area with gauze not a bandaid...gauze allows the air to come through and helps with the healing process.  Change the gauze frequently, cleanse and apply more antibiotic ointment.  Sometimes, if I'm very lucky, the same spot doesn't come back again, but, if it does...back to the surgeon.  I am not a medical professional, but, this is the only thing that has ever worked for me...check with your doctor before starting on vitamin E.  Good Luck...I empathize.  Sweetstuff

Hi Abigail, I have had this problem for only a year my Dr. sent me to a dermatologist, he said it was due to adrenal gland problem started me on Bactrim400-80 mg.2 x daily and aldactone 50mg. 2 x daily they went away and I am still on the medication if I go off it the boils start coming back. I go to the dermotologist every 3 months and the dr. at Derm. One told me it takes at least 6 months for one of those scars to clear up. When i'm not having an outbreak I only take antibiotic once a day.  I don't go back until
