Hi there.i hope this may shed some light on your dilema,it's one i've shared in the past. The only thing thats making me cautious in thinking my answer is the correct one is our different methods of delivering insulin. However i dont think it matters ,but consult your diabetes specialist just in case. I am type 1 getting pork insulin via a pump.As such my carb/insulin ratio is 12g to 1 unit. But i've got to make sure you understand that carb/insulin is a personal thing,it does not depend on the type of insulin you are on,everybody needs differnt amounts. I was like you b4 i got a pump,i found it difficult to get the correct ratio, and i was never advised on ratios at the clinic i went to. The only way to find out is trial and error i'm afraid,i think i started on 10 to 1 unit, then 11 ,12,13 and went back to 12 which i've never changed in 6 years or so now, unless i've a cold or something's affecting my levels.hope this helps you.gary Reply
