Q: What is the effect of Steroids taken through injection, on diabetic patient taking Metaformin,Insuli

I suffered a fracture of neck and shoulders. During the recovery period I was given Steroid

injections. I am diabetic and taking Metaformin, Insulin, and Glargine.

Hi,

Thank you for your question. Steroids can definitely interfere with your glucose control. The steroid injections most likely caused an increase in your blood sugars, but once the injections ended, the sugar should have been controlled again by your metformin and insulin use.
