Are you considered diabetic or pre-diabetic if you go over 140 mg/dL?

We checked my daughter and she has had many readings above 140 mg/dL. The highest we have seen so far is 168 mg/dL.

get her to the doctor! If it's a fasting (8 hour or more) sugar, she's diabetic. If it's an hour after meals, she might be diabetic. Only the clinical tests from a doctor can tell you for sure. Find a good endocrinologist with the help of her pediatrician or doctor. Managed care is the first step to keeping problems at bay. Good luck!
