Jessie, I am type 2 diabetic also, and I think 85 is too low.  As far as my body goes, when my blood sugar gets to 85, it is telling me that I'd better eat a small snack to prevent hypoglycemia, which gives me the shakes, disorientation, irritability.  I think 100-110 is probably the best range for an excellent blood sugar; 140 after meals.  When my fasting blood sugar is under 100,  I am careful with my exercise (which I do daily in the morning), because I do not want to experience hypoglycemia.  I sometimes even eat a piece of apple or pear before exercising so my BS is not too low after exercise.  I also take my BS into consideration when I take my morning meds.  If it is too low in the morning, I eat something within 10-20 mins after taking my meds--again, to avoid BS getting too low.  Also, I am very careful about what I eat during the day; usually several mini meals per day (fruit, salad, soup, wheat cracker) to keep my appetite under control.  I eat dinner at about 5-6 PM, do another 15-20 minutes of exercise, and later, eat perhaps a piece of fruit, or an Atkins candy (low sugar) for a night snack.  This regimen works well for me.
