Thursday, June 18, 2009 Dany asks

Q: My fasting morning BS (100-120)increases to 240-290 in the early afternoon, without eating any food.

I take insulin (lantus and novolog) daily.  I developed diabetes at 36 after taking a prescription medication in 2003.  I have had an awful time regulating my BS.  My morning fasting BS is 100-120 and it increases to 240-290 by late morning, even after taking my morning lantus and a small dose of novolog, and eating no food/carbs at all.  This is very frustating to me.  Please help.

correct me if I am wrong.  As I was told our body stores sugar and when we do not eat, that sugar is release into our system and cause to be a high concentration of sugar that our body says that it needs.  How long have you been a diabetic?  How long have you been on lantus and novolog?  My diabetes is pass on from family, being overweight, and not controling in the pass.  I am 53 been diagnois since 17. Now I have other complications.  Talk to your Drs., Go to diabetes education, check out recipes for low carbs.  I know it gets boring but it is better to take care of it now.  Then getting, neroapathy in your fingers and feet that is no fun. that is having numbing fingers and toes and tingling and also stabing pain.  Angina pain from your heart.  Also losing your kidney function.  being on a machine for 4 hrs 3 xs a week just to survie.  I know this eating in morderation is the key.  I wish well.
