What type of treatment are you looking for is the #1 question. If you are looking at herbal or vitamin therapy you can look into Alpha lipoic Acid 600 mg per day (this is based on a neurologists recomendation) omega three fatty acids 1000 mg per day. Calcium + magnesium at night before bed. keeping your blood sugar at a good level (which I might add can cause it to hurt a bit more for a while since your body is adjusting to the lower sugar levels).
If you are going for a prescription fix there are several types of antidepressants that help with this condition such as Cymbalta & Lyrica.. Speak with you Dr about them.
Good luck I know exactly what you are going through and it is Horrible. I truely hope you find something to help you.
** if you Drink a lot of caffine and smoke those are the 2 worst things for Nerve pain.***
For leg cramps I drink one or 2 glasses of Diet Tonic water with Quinine but I'm beginning to think that the aspartame is having an effect on me.Can that cause Heart burn. Going give up the Diet Water and see if that makes a difference. The Quinine does quiet down the leg cramps.
For he shooting pains in my toes, ankles and insteps I take 800mg of Alpha-Lipoic Acid on the advice of my Doctor and it does quiet the pain down.
If some of your pains are leg cramps ( aka 'Charlie Horse'!) then the solution that worked for me was to stop drinking so much coffee!
Caffeine is a dehydrater and this can cause cramps - I've checked, and it's all over the web.
One solution is to drink a lot of water, the other is to switch to decaf ( my solution) or stop coffee altogether.
I drink percolated Senseo decaf coffee and it's delicious :-) and about 1 cup of caffeinated per day.
I haven't had cramps since I changed my pattern - honest.
ditto my wife, who got so busy recently she stopped her habit of regularly drinking water and one night had such bad cramps she fell over in the middle of the night - she just couldn't stand - it was agony. I showed her some of the online research and she resumed drinking water and hasn;t had cramps since.
Does this ring a bell?

The number one thing is to get your blood sugar under control, this will help a lot. Second there is a product available from American Nutrition called "Benfotiamine". It is a artificial form of thiamine that was developed in Japan for neuropathy, sciatica and other nerve pain. Below are some links so you can do some research of your own. I know it has sure worked for me to lessen the pain.

I have Cardio Vascular Insufficiency in my legs aankles and feet. I wear compression hoseiry (the panty hose kind and I order them through a web site that still makes their brand here in the USA and I paid $28. per pair for 4 pair of 20-30mmhg. They carrry knee highs, thigh highs also, but I have found that if I put them on as soon as I get up, and do not take them off until I go to bed the pain in my legs, ankles and feet is nil. I also have to wear orthotic insert in my shoes because my feet pronate(role to the outside when I walk. I wear shoes fitted by a specialist--I have wide feet in the front (called the "LAST") and Narrow feet in the ankle, so I wear contour last shoes made by PH Minor. I keep my legs up in my recliner as often as I can, and I walk everyday. These hose are hard to get on, if you get the surgical grade, you'll need latex gloves ehich they also sell. But they have made all the difference in the world to me and also the inserts and shoes. Have you been seen by a cariologist that speicalizes in varicose veins and blood flow to the legs and feet? Have you seen a podiatrist? These two are very good if you can find the right ones.
