Q: Why would meat veggies and other low carb foods be raising my sugar?

I am 41 and have type 2, I had a baby 4 months ago and was on insulin during the pregnancy. Before that avandia 4 mg twice a day for 10 years. I controled it with diet and exercise .I ate very low carb and walked a mile a day.NowI am still on insulin and struggling , the doctor just keeps raising my dose I was up to 28 units of novolog before each meal and 28 units of lantis at bed time. My fasting was still 170 -198 and my 2hr was still 260 -290. I felt terrible all the time but I was still breast feeding and had to eat some carbs. So I am no longer nursing and am eating no carbs other than the ones found in vegitable and nuts and taking no insulin and my numbers are 168- fasting and 165 2hrs. why is my suger so high if I am not eating carbs? My doctor said I am producing too many steroids at night, but did not explain this further and uped my insulin again with no results after 2 weeks. Why am I producing steroids and will this ever stop? I am insulin resistent so is giving myself more insulin going to help?
