there are 2 reasons for this: 1- hormones released during sleep (cortisol, growth hormone) can cause insulin resistance- the extreme of this process is called the "dawn phenomenon" 2- there is an increase in insulin sensitivity with a second feeding- so the first meal of the day will need more insulin to cover so simply take more insulin, or, if you are worried about weight gain, eat less CHO good luck and remember: a patient said to the doc "my sugar is too high after breakfast" and the doc said "then don't eat breakfast" Reply

Exercising after breakfast should help bring the sugar level down.  I am on insulin, once in the morning before breakfast, and once before supper. When I started exercising after breakfast ( a walk around the mall ) I found my sugar levels went too low. I told my doctor about this, and he advised that if I was going to exercise in the morning, I still should eat a good breakfast, but not to take any insulin that morning before breakfast. I can do my walk exercise now, and not run low sugar.Smile
